Help us improve the outdoor areas of Alamo’s playground!

We love our Alamo community and beautiful campus with a view of Mt. Diablo! Our students enjoy playing on the newly redone “Big Toy” (paid for by the district) and eating outside in the amphitheater. At recess, students use the play equipment to exercise and release some energy. Recess in elementary school is critical, not only for physical activity and fun playtime, but research also shows that a high quality recess boosts students’ social emotional development and academic achievement.

Many areas of the playground are well-loved but in need of updating. Our outdoor-focused Fund a Need this year may include things like:

  • New balls and play equipment

  • Replacement of picnic tables in the breezeways that are peeling and chipped and adding more as needed

  • Improvements to the basketball hoops, wall balls and tetherball courts

  • An additional water bottle filling station

  • Replacing the awning over the amphitheater

  • Working towards a shade structure to provide a cool area in the warmer months where students can be out of the sun. A shade structure is a highly desired, yet quite expensive project that would likely take a few years of fundraising to be able to purchase. We hope to set aside a percentage of our Fund a Need money to save for this!

We will work with SRVUSD over the coming months to get a proposal and aim to improve many of the outdoor areas for our kids!

*Any funds raised over the needed amount will be used at the principal's discretion.
